‘Penguins’ migrates to 40 territories

Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation toon finds homes

Tyke toon hit “The Penguins of Madagascar,” produced by Nickelodeon and DreamWorks Animation, has notched more than 40 sales around the world, according to distrib MTV Networks Intl.

The show, based on characters from toon features “Madagascar” and “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,” has been licensed in key territories including China (SMG Best TV), Brazil (Globosat), France (TF1), Italy (Mediaset), Hong Kong (TVB), Mexico (Televisa), Middle East (E-Vizion), New Zealand (TVNZ), Portugal (SIC), Russia (TNT), Spain (TV3 Catalunya) and the U.K. (GMTV).

Steve Grieder, MTVNI’s executive VP of Nickelodeon and program sales, said, “As the most-watched premiere in Nickelodeon’s history, we knew immediately that we had a hit show on our hands.”

The toon is produced by Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank.
