‘Orphan’ inherits fantasy prize

Adoption yarn wins at Brussels festival

BRUSSELS — Warner Bros.’ nightmare adoption yarn “Orphan” has taken top honors at the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival, which wrapped Tuesday.

Helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra, pic stars Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard.

The jury also singled out Asian movies for kudos, with special prizes for South Korean horror “Thirst” by Park Chan-Wook and surreal Japanese comedy “Symbol” by Hitoshi Matsumoto.

Fest’s European prize, which counts as a nomination for the continent-wide Golden Melies award, went to German time-travel drama “The Door” by Anno Saul. Danish thesp Mads Mikkelsen stars.

The audience vote went to Belgian mock-doc “Vampires” by Vincent Lannoo.
