PARIS — Laurence Blaevoet, a veteran exec at Gallic satcaster Canal Plus, has been tapped to head up the giant paybox’s children’s programming division.
Blaevoet replaces Francois Deplanck who has been appointed prexy of Canal Plus’ upcoming online gambling 50/50 joint venture with British bookmaker Ladbrokes.
Canal Plus’ former director of programming, responsible for scheduling, Blaevoet takes up one of the most powerful positions in France’s kids’ TV sector, commissioning and buying shows for channel Canal Plus Family and both satcaster CanalSat’s dedicated kids channels, pre-teen feed Teletoon and pre-school service Piwi.
A former TV journalist, Blaevoet joined Canal Plus from Tele Monte Carlo in 1990, when CP still operated as an analog channel. She aided the launch of CP international channel Canal Plus Horizons in Africa, became part of CP’s programming division in 1995 and was named director of scheduling at Canal Plus in 2000.
Blaevoet will be replaced by Vincent Navarro, her former deputy director of scheduling.
