TORONTO — Maple Pictures has acquired all Canadian rights to writer-director Guillaume Canet’s “Little White Lies.”

The pic, which world preemed as a Gala Sept. 11, portrays tensions that arise when a group of old friends gather at a beach house. It stars Marion Cotillard, Francois Cluzet, Benoit Magimel, Gilles Lellouche, Laurent Lafitte and Jean Dujardin.

The deal was negotiated by Maple’s John Bain and EuropaCorp’s Pascal Degove.

” ‘Little White Lies’ is a modern-day ‘The Big Chill’,” said Maple co-prexy Laurie May. “The strength of its performances will undoubtedly make it a crowd favorite.”

Maple plans a theatrical release for early 2011.

Pic has also secured distribution in France (EuropaCorp), Belgium (Cineart) and Switzerland (Agora Films).
