Italian producer Aurelio De Laurentiis — who held court on the Lido Tuesday, when he was celebrated with Variety’s Profile in Excellence Award — has announced that Monica Bellucci will join the cast of his “Manual of Love 3” and also that his Filmauro will restore and re-release Italy’s first 3D movie, 1953’s “Toto in 3D.”

In “Manual of Love 3,” Bellucci will play the love interest of an American professor, played by Robert De Niro. Shooting starts later this month at Rome’s Cinecitta Studios.

The previous two installments of these crossover romancers pulled a combined total of $45 million in grosses in Italy and were released in several other countries.

“This third one, with De Niro in the cast, will have greater international ambitions,” De Laurentiis said.

“Toto in 3D” was produced by the De Laurentiis family but is languishing in Rome’s National Film Archives. Now the plan is to restore it, send it to a major fest, and then re-release the vintage stereoscopic title, starring Italo comic icon Toto, on a massive 300-400 Italian screens.
