‘Blind Side’ goes straight to VOD in Sweden

Voddler nabs exclusive two-week window

STOCKHOLM — Despite its Oscar win for Sandra Bullock, “The Blind Side” will go straight to video-on-demand in Sweden.

The pic will have its Swedish preem this week on VOD service Voddler, which has more than 500,000 users.

“The Blind Side’s” release reps the first time Voddler has offered a new Hollywood pic on its site. The company will have a two-week exclusive window.

The film will be released on DVD in the fall.

Zoran Slavic, exec VP content at Voddler, said: “I hope that in the future we can offer a first window alternative when the distribs want it. I’m in negotiations with several Swedish producers about similar first runs. This is a new way to distribute film.”
