Poland orders Endemol’s ‘Vodka’

TVN to air international company's drama series

LONDON — Global production powerhouse Endemol has landed its first drama series commission in Poland.

Endemol Polska will produce “Klub Szalonych Dziewic” for TVN. Show is a local version of “Roses and Vodka Lime,” a hit for Endemol Netherlands that ran for six series on local station Talpa.

Show follows the longstanding friendship between four beautiful, talented and ambitious women immersed in modern city life.

“Roses and Vodka Lime” is distributed by Endemol Intl. and will be available as a scripted format at Discop 2009.

Caroline Torrance, director of scripted programming and distribution at Endemol International, said: “We’re continuing to globally expand our drama business and this commission represents another breakthrough in this genre.”

Under CEO Ynon Kreiz, who joined the company last year, Endemol is beefing up its scripted activities.

It wants to replicate its success with drama in Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia and Latin America.

Recent scripted successes have included “The Successful Mr. and Mrs. Pells,” picked up in 13 countries and a huge hit in Argentina, and “Dead Set,” the BAFTA-winning cult thriller about a zombie attack on the Big Brother house.
