Levity pacts with PIAS

Group to leverage comedy offerings overseas

Levity Entertainment Group plans to leverage its comedy offerings overseas through a partnership with Belgium-based distrib PIAS Entertainment, licensing 10 of its hour-long standup shows for distribution across Europe, South Africa and Australia.

Deal builds on Levity’s existing relationship with PIAS, which helped establish a following for Levity-managed comics Jeff Dunham and Pablo Francisco via TV, DVD, mobile and broadband exposure in foreign markets.

The arrangement allows Levity to repurpose programs produced for Comedy Central in the U.S. — including Jim Breuer’s “Let’s Clear the Air,” Pete Correale’s “The Things We Do for Love” and Gabriel Iglesias’ “Hot and Fluffy” — with the goal of building the artists’ profiles abroad.

Levity Entertainment Group is already exploring ways to create awareness for its clients online through the use of its proprietary E-Comic Branding service. As the relationship with PIAS evolves, Levity intends to help promote European and Australian comics in the States as well, with further details expected after the Montreal and Edinburgh comedy fests.
