Fox trots to top with ‘Dance’

'Celebrity' second on quiet summer night

In a night where not a single show earned a 3.0 rating, an elimination round of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” was the top program Thursday in the 18-49 demo, giving the network a win over second place CBS, which aired repeats of its popular procedurals.

Despite the victory by “Dance,” it was the reality hit’s lowest-rated show of the season as it fell 12% from last week. The other nonscripted program of the evening, NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” finished second.

For now, “Dance” (2.9 rating/9 share, 8 million viewers) and “Celebrity” (1.8/7, 4.9m) are the only fresh programming offered on Thursdays — besides NBC’s “The Listener” (1.0/3, 3.8m) — until the nets introduce new skeins as the summer moves on.

CBS’ “CSI” was the most-watched program (1.7/5) with 9.5 million viewers tuning in. Right behind it was another Eye drama, “The Mentalist” (1.8/6, 8.9m).

Interestingly, ABC’s “Ugly Betty” (0.7/3, 2.6m) performed marginally better than the Alphabet’s “Grey’s Anatomy” (0.6/2, 2.2m) or “Private Practice” (0.5/2, 2.1m).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 2.1/7; CBS, 1.6/5; Univision, 1.4/5; NBC, 1.3/4; ABC, 0.6/2; CW, 0.5/2.

In total viewers: CBS, 8.7 million; Fox, 6.3 million; NBC, 3.9 million; Univision, 3.6 million; ABC, 2.3 million; CW, 1.2 million.
