ABC made another early pickup late Friday, giving a series order to sci-fi drama “Flash Forward.”
Series green light wasn’t a surprise; the Alphabet network has already been teasing the show via a series of viral marketing spots during “Lost.”
That’s led most to assume that “Flash Forward” will bow in the fall to satisfy “Lost” fans as they wait for that show to return in January.
“Flash Forward” reps the second early series order this week for ABC; net also picked up the laffer “Modern Family.”
ABC Studios is behind “Flash Forward,” which centers on what happens when everyone on Earth briefly falls unconscious at the same time for two minutes and 17 seconds. During those moments, people see what happens to their lives six months into the future.
Show is based on the novel “Flash Forward” by Robert Sawyer. David Goyer and Brannon Braga wrote the pilot, while Goyer also directed. Goyer, Braga, Vince Gerardis, Jessika Goyer, Marc Guggenheim and Ralph Vicinanza are exec producers; Guggenheim and Goyer will serve as showrunners.
Stars include Joseph Fiennes, Courtney B. Vance, Jack Davenport, Sonya Walger, John Cho, Brian O’Byrne, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List and Christine Woods.
