TLC is dusting off its tiara for “King of the Crown.”
Cabler has ordered 12 episodes of the reality skein that looks behind the scenes of the ultra-competitive beauty pageant biz.
Series, which launches Sept. 30 and will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m., revolves around Cy Frakes, who has been coaching aspiring beauty queens for more than 20 years. Frakes’ business, Gowns and Crowns, teaches clients how to perfect their walk, style hair and smile on cue.
“This series has the perfect balance of high stakes and heart. It also further builds out our pageant programming,” said Nancy Daniels, senior VP of production of development.
TLC airs “Toddlers and Tiaras” and has been the home of the Miss America Pageant for the past two years. Special will air again in January.
Five Five Prods. and Discovery Studios are producing. Amber Mazzola and Rachel Tung are exec producers.
Net recently ordered a second season of “The Little Couple” and has had a strong year with “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” “Cake Boss” and “Police Women of Broward County,” which premiered Aug. 6.
