Former ‘Colbert’ showrunner eyes pilot

Former “Colbert Report” exec producer Allison Silverman has struck a deal to pen a pilot for Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.

There’s no word on the specifics of the project. Broadway Video is said to have cut a blind script deal with Silverman shortly after she announced her plan to step down from Comedy Central’s “Colbert” this month (Daily Variety, Aug. 25).

Silverman had been with the show since its inception in 2005. She served as co-head writer and was upped to exec producer alongside star Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart in 2007.

Before “Colbert,” Silverman worked as a scribe on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.”

Silverman and reps for Broadway Video declined to comment on the deal.
