Wilmer Valderrama signs Real deal

Actor inks three-year overall deal with TV unit

Thesp Wilmer Valderrama has inked a three-year overall deal with fledgling RelativityReal, the reality/alternative TV arm of Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity Media.

Deal calls for Valderrama, who is the creator-producer and host of the long-running MTV show “Yo Mamma,” to create, develop and exec produce series for broadcast and cable networks.

Valderrama, who voices the title role of Manny Garcia in the Playhouse Disney animated series “Handy Manny,” has a number of projects in the pipeline, including a blind script commitment to produce a new show for the Disney Channel. His production company, WV Enterprises, sold Nickelodeon the half-hour comedy “Earth to Pablo,” which follows a family that ends up with a teen space alien instead of the South American exchange student they expected.

Valderrama is also working with MTV to develop the half-hour novella “Brooklyn Sound,” which is set in a tough neighborhood where teenagers use their talent and passion to achieve stardom. Valderrama and WV’s Danny Villa will exec produce the project.

Founded last year by Kavanaugh and TV producer Tom Forman (“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”), RelativityReal produces unscripted and scripted content for broadcast TV, cable and the Internet and has more than 20 shows in various stages of development. Valderrama’s deal marks the second overall pact for RelativityReal, which teamed up with exec producers Jay Blumenfield and Anthony Marsh in February.

Valderrama is repped by UTA, Rigberg Entertainment and attorney Michael Gendler.
