Bill McGoldrick is returning to USA Network as senior VP of original scripted programming.
Exec, who’s been at Spike TV since 2005 as VP of original series programming, is returning to the cabler where he learned the business, beginning as an assistant at USA in 1998. Moving up the ranks, he had a hand in developing series on Sci Fi Channel and USA, including “Monk.”
“Going home again was a big thing for me,” McGoldrick told Daily Variety in explaining the move. “The volume of drama they’re able to do there is what’s so interesting to me.”
McGoldrick will report to Jeff Wachtel, prexy of original programming, who said, “Bringing him back home to USA is something we’ve been trying to do ever since he left.”
Jackie de Crinis, USA’s exec VP of originals, is leaving the net’s L.A. offices to relocate to Hawaii. She’ll sport a lesser title with fewer daily responsibilities but will continue to have a say in programming decisions.
USA is coming off a successful launch of drama “Royal Pains” on June 4. “Burn Notice” began its third season on the same date, and both shows have seen an uptick in subsequent episodes.
