Lawyer Gatti gets new gig

Litigator heads to Stroock & Stroock & Lavan

Stroock & Stroock & Lavan has hired veteran litigator John M. Gatti as chair of its entertainment and media litigation practice in its Los Angeles office.

Gatti’s best known for handling Alan Ladd Jr. and Jay Kanter’s case against Warner Bros. in which a Los Angeles jury awarded the duo $3.2 million in damages in 2007 for undervaluing their films.

Gatti, who comes from Greenberg Traurig, has more than 21 years of business litigation experience, with an emphasis in the entertainment and media industries.

He’s been involved in representing studios, networks, independent entertainment production companies and talent involved in the media, entertainment, sports, Internet and videogame industries, including actions for breach of contract, copyright infringement, prosecution and defense of profit participation claims, idea submission claims, defamation, invasion of privacy, and right to publicity and use of celebrity name and likeness.
