A tuner adaptation of “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” is in the works. The developing musical will get a week of creative work hosted by Lincoln Center Theater this summer.

Helmer Bartlett Sher (“South Pacific”) will help shepherd the process with creatives, who include composer-lyricist David Yazbek and book writer Jeffrey Lane. Yazbek and Lane previously collaborated on “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”

Pedro Almodovar, writer-director of the original 1988 pic, talked up the brewing legit incarnation at Cannes. Movie, about a group of women whose lives intersect in comically complicated ways, also has spawned a potential TV adaptation, the filmmaker said.

For the legit version, the weeklong session in June will likely result in at least one reading at LCT. No details or timeline for a full production have been nailed down.
