“Legally Blonde,” “Spring Awakening,” “Wicked” and “Frost/Nixon” were among the winners of the Broadway League’s Touring Broadway Awards.
Annual kudos honor road productions of Rialto fare.
“Blonde” picked up wins for new touring tuner, design (David Rockwell, Gregg Barnes and Kenneth Posner) and choreography (Jerry Mitchell), while “Spring” took score (Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater) and direction (Michael Mayer).
Award for touring play went to “Frost/Nixon.”
“Wicked” took home the award for long-running musical tour, as well as the aud choice laurel (for the third year in a row).
Other awards handed out included touring Broadway achievement (Bill Miller), presenter management (Colleen Jennings-Roggensack), road marketing (Michael Kilgore) and lifetime service (Alecia Parker).
Touring productions sold 15.3 million tickets last season, according to the League.
Awards ceremony was held Monday at the Hilton New York, during the League’s Spring Road Conference.
