“Genocide” and “The Long Way Home” are among five docus that pay cabler Starz has acquired from the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Moriah Films banner.
“I Have Never Forgotten: The Life and Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal” , “Unlikely Heroes” and “Liberation” are the other titles included in the deal.
The pics will bow on Oct. 1 on Starz’s IndiePlex channel and will air again in April 2010 on Starz Cinema in connection with Holocaust Remembrance Month.
Comcast Corp. chairman Brian Roberts, who has long been associated with the Wiesenthal Center, suggested that Starz acquire the docus as a way of marking the anniversary of the slaughter of more than 1,000 Jews in Luboml, Poland on Oct. 1, 1942.
Starz chairman and CEO Robert Clasen said the doc showcase was an effort to support “the legacy of Mr. Wiesenthal and the organization’s commendable mission.”
