Kerasotes Showplace Theatres chair-CEO Tony Kerasotes and his brother, prexy-chief operating officer Dean Kerasotes will receive the ShoWesters of the Year award at the upcoming exhibitor confab ShoWest.
Honor comes as the theater circuit celebrates its 100th anniversary. Company was founded in 1909 when their grandfather opened his first storefront nickelodeon in Springfield, Ill.
The Chicago-based exhib is the seventh largest in the U.S., operating 95 theaters with 935 screens in the U.S., mostly in the Midwest.
In 1985, Kerasotes Showplace was split in two, with Tony Kerasotes becoming CEO of the original company. His brother later joined as COO. Company relocated its company headquarters from Springfield to Chicago in 1999, with Providence Equity Partners taking a stake in the circuit in 2003.
