Lorber nabs ‘Nollywood Babylon’

Sundance film will get U.S. theatrical release

Lorber HT Digital has acquired the U.S. theatrical and public performance rights to “Nollywood Babylon,” a documentary about Nigeria’s film industry.

Pic, directed by Ben Addelman and Samir Mallal, had its U.S. premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January as part of the World Cinema Documentary competition.  

Lorber, which focuses on specialty docu fare, will open pic theatrically at select venues in the second quarter. It will also be available to educational and cultural institutions.

After the theatrical release, Lorber will release “Nollywood” on DVD through its Alive Mind label late this year.
