Tribeca trots out shorts

Festival announces films for 2009 edition

The Tribeca Film Festival has announced the shorts set for its 2009 edition.

Helmers include thesps Tom Everett Scott and Kate Hudson and returning directors Jason DaSilva, Brian Durnin and Ken Jacobs.

The films fall into six different themed programs: Means to an End, Mixed Feelings, Wake-Up Call, Truth or Consequences, Time Will Tell and Human Landscapes. The programs will be presented during the April 22-May 3 run of the fest at venues around lower Manhattan.

Tribeca offers cash and value-in-kind prizes totaling $15,000 to winners in its Narrative Short, Docu Short and Student Visionary categories.

Through April 12, five of the finalists will play on some Delta flights; passengers will be able to rate each film. The pic rated highest will close the shorts sub-fest.
