Strand Releasing has snapped up two Sundance titles.
The distrib acquired all U.S. rights to Sundance competition entry “Toe to Toe,” written and directed by documentary filmmaker Emily Abt.
Second U.S. rights pickup is Noah Buschel’s “The Missing Person,” which preemed in Sundance’s Spectrum section.
“Toe to Toe” is set for an early 2010 release, while “Missing” is set to bow later this year.
“Toe” tells the story of two high school girls from opposite sides of the track whose friendship unravels over race and class-related issues, as well as over a boy. Pic stars Louisa Krause and Sonequa Martin.
“Toe to Toe” is Abt’s first narrative feature. Her docu “Take It From Me” aired on PBS’ “P.O.V.” series. Her second docu feature, “All of Us,” preemed on Showtime.
“Missing Person,” a mystery about a private detective who is hired to trail a man presumed dead stars Michael Shannon and Amy Ryan. Pic was produced by 7th Floor partners Jesse Scolaro and Allen Bain, with Lois Drabkin of Apropos Films.
“Toe” was repped by Rena Ronson of William Morris Independent. Sales for “Missing” are repped by Visit Films.
