Nehst Studios aims for ‘Basket’

Company nabs feature rights to sports books

Larry Meistrich’s Nehst Studios has acquired feature rights to the Matt Christopher sports book series and plans to develop “The Kid Who Only Hit Homers” and “The Basket Counts.”

Nehst signed the rights agreement with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, home to “Gossip Girl” and Twilight.” Christopher’s sports books have sold more than 36 million copies worldwide.

Ari Friedman and Meistrich will produce, with Wayne Chesler writing and directing. Chesler has produced and directed sports and children’s programming for 15 years.

Meistrich, who founded the Shooting Gallery, launched Nehst Studios in 2007 as a film production, financing and distribution company. Nehst is producing Kevin Grevioux’s “The Pale Horsemen” plus “Strangeland 2,” “Kiss the Kill” and “National Triumph League.”
