PARIS — Rolling off Cannes, Gallic TV powerhouse Marathon has inked a bevy of sales on its toon feature, “Totally Spies.”
Based on Marathon’s international toon series hit, “Totally Spies” has been picked up by World Dream for Switzerland, Rialto for Australia and Gussi for Mexico.
Before heading to Cannes, the animated-feature had already been pre-sold to Les Films de l’Elysee for Benelux and SPI for Eastern Europe.
The Paris-based company announced it is in negotiations with buyers from U.K., Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Greece and Spain.
Produced by Marathon Media and Studio 37, and co-produced by Italy’s Mikado, the €8 million ($10.6 million) animated feature will be distribbed in Gaul by Mars Distribution, opening on July 22.
Marathon is part of pan-European production group, Zodiak Entertainment, owned by Italian conglom the De Agostini Group.
The Marathon Group’s eclectic sales slate includes Swedish blockbuster “Millennium,” based on Stieg Larsson’s bestselling trilogy; and “Braquo,” a TV crime series co-directed by French thesp-helmer Olivier Marchal and Frederic Schoendoerffer.
