Mandeville Films has optioned the comicbook “Cla$$War” from publisher Com.x for Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman to produce.
Penned by Rob Williams, with art by Trevor Hairsine and Travel Foreman, the books are described as a political thriller that revolves around a super-soldier known as “the American,” who discovers the sinister truth of the government program that created him and is forced to take on the rest of his super-powered team.
MTV News’s Splash Page first reported the deal on Friday.
“Cla$$War” was published by Com.x from 2002-04.
Rick Alexander of Alexander Content will co-produce the pic, for which a writer has not yet been hired.
Deal follows Mandeville’s recent pickup of Top Cow’s comicbook “Alibi” (Daily Variety, Aug. 3).
Mandeville’s “Surrogates,” also based on a graphic novel, bowed on Sept. 29, through Disney’s Touchstone banner. The shingle’s shooting “The Fighter,” with David O. Russell directing Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.
