Mandate Pictures has bought an untitled comedy from screenwriter Annie Mumolo, with Dana Fox and Lorene Scafaria set as producers.
Story centers on three disillusioned girlfriends in their 30s who head to New York City to celebrate New Year’s Eve like they never have before, only to be waylaid by a snowstorm.
“I wanted to write a story based on the things my friends and I are experiencing in our 30s that completely took us by surprise,” said Mumolo.
She recently wrote a script with Kristen Wiig and set it up at Universal with Judd Apatow producing. Mumolo’s also written for ABC’s “In the Motherhood.”
Project reteams Mandate with Scafaria for the third time following “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” and her development of her romantic comedy “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” on which she’ll make her directorial debut as well as serve as a producer. Fox’s screenwriting credits include “What Happens in Vegas,” “The Wedding Date” and “Male Doula,” and she co-wrote the upcoming “Couples Retreat.”
Mumolo’s repped by UTA and Thruline Entertainment. Fox is repped by WME and Anonymous Content. Scafaria’s repped by WME.
