Levy in for ‘bots of ‘Steel’

Director takes on DreamWorks film

Shawn Levy is set to direct “Real Steel,” a DreamWorks film about a father and son who take a robot to the Bot Boxing Championship.

The film is set in the near future, where combatants control human-like 2000-pound robots that battle in the ring. John Gatins turned in the most recent script draft.

Pic is being exec produced by Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey for ImageMovers.

Levy is expected to direct the film next year. He last released “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” and recently wrapped “Date Night” with Steve Carell and Tina Fey.

Levy is repped by WME.
