IFC Films nabs ‘Valentine’s Day’

Film company grabs rights to Vardalos pic

IFC Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to “I Hate Valentine’s Day,” starring Nia Vardalos and John Corbett.

Pic marks the first re-teaming of Vardalos and Corbett since IFC’s hit “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” in 2002, which grossed $369 million worldwide. “Valentine’s Day” will be available on-demand beginning July 1, with theatrical dates in New York, Los Angeles and selected cities.

Project is Vardalos’ directing debut; she also wrote the romantic comedy, which co-stars Judah Friedlander, Rachel Dratch and Zoe Kazan. Pic is produced by Blue Star Entertainment’s William Sherak and Jason Shuman, who just wrapped on Luke Wilson starrer “Middle Men.”
