CBS Films taps Rubin for exec VP

Exec will oversee physical production

Lakeshore Entertainment’s David Scott Rubin has been named exec VP of physical production at CBS Films.

Rubin will oversee physical production for all pics produced by CBS Films. He will report to Amy Baer, prexy-chief exec of the division within CBS Corp.

Rubin joins CBS Films from Lakeshore, where he served as exec producer and senior VP of physical production since 2005. While at Lakeshore, he oversaw production on films including the Jason Statham starrer “Crank” and the soon-to-be-released sci-fi action thriller “Game.”

Before Lakeshore, Rubin was an independent producer and exec producer on films including “I Am Sam” and the urban comedy “Soul Plane.”

Baer lauded Rubin for being an executive who “understands how to walk the delicate line of managing the bottom line while simultaneously being filmmaker friendly.”

Rubin’s post is one of the last key positions to be filled at the fledgling ministudio. Established in 2007, CBS Films aims to develop and produce four to six movies a year spanning all genres, with production budgets up to $50 million per pic. It is expected to greenlight its first film in the coming weeks.
