Hugh Grant, Isabelle Huppert, Willem Dafoe and Judi Dench are among the international thesps expected to add glitz to this year’s Shanghai Intl. Film Festival, but the main focus for the Chinese auds will be the Chinese glitterati.

Organizers are keeping mum about attendance, but fest director Tang Lijun says, “I assure you that the most famous Chinese stars you can imagine will appear at SIFF.”

“Trainspotting” and “Slumdog Millionaire” helmer Danny Boyle will chair the jury. Boyle pushed all the right buttons with his future hosts when he said at “Slumdog’s” Beijing bow that he was considering making a pic in China.

A record number of entries, including unprecedented interest from Italy, should make for a broader fest this time year.

Event features a film market and two sections for working filmmakers hoping to attract producers and investors, including China Film Pitch and Catch (CFPC), which aims to provide some valuable face time for Chinese filmmakers and global producers and distributors.
