‘Hurt Locker’ wins big with Vegas critics

Film takes five honors at Sierra awards

The Las Vegas Film Critics have named ‘Hurt Locker’ best picture at its 2009 Sierra awards. ‘Locker’ also nabbed awards for best actor (Jeremy Renner), best director (Kathryn Bigelow), best cinematography and film editing.

Best actress went to Gabourey Sidibe for her turn as an abused urban teen in ‘Precious.’ Film scored another win, as Monique took home the award for best supporting actress.

Also nabbing two kudos each, Fox’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ won for best family film and best animated film. Paramount’s ‘Star Trek’ took best visual effects and best score.
