HOLLYWOOD — MGM Networks is launching a Portuguese-language version of its MGM HD Channel on Sky Brasil, the country’s leading satellite TV platform.
The film channel will complement the standard definition MGM Channel, which has been available on Sky since 1997.
The announcement was made Tuesday by MGM Networks prexy Bruce Tuchman.
Brazil is the fourth market to launch a localized version of MGM HD, which debuted in Poland in December 2006 and is also available in the U.S. and Israel.
MGM Networks Latin America operates MGM Portugal, MGM Brazil, MGM Spanish Latin America, Casa Club TV Latin America, Casa Club TV USA Hispanic and MGM HD in Brazil. Combined, these channels reach 27 million households in 22 countries.
