Electronic Arts has landed an exclusive deal with Ludlum Entertainment to create vidgames based on the late Robert Ludlum’s books, which include the Jason Bourne franchise.

Plans call for EA to first release a Bourne title that Starbreeze Studios will produce. Swedish company developed the successful “The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay” game in 2004.

New title will essentially be a reboot of Bourne game “The Bourne Conspiracy” that Sierra Entertainment developed for Vivendi Games last year. Title didn’t become the interactive franchise starter its developers had hoped for.

Ludlum Entertainment took over rights to the Bourne games after Activision and Blizzard merged last year.

Vidgame vet Matt Wolf will work with EA to oversee the creative development, production and positioning of the Ludlum Entertainment games portfolio.

Wolf spent six years working at EA before starting his own shingle, Double Twenty Prods. Wolf also helped Gracie Films and the Roald Dahl Estate develop games based on “The Simpsons” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

Last year, Ludlum Entertainment entered into a production deal with Universal Pictures to produce films based on the dozens of books in the Ludlum library.
