Disney brings theme park merch online

Products available only in parks to hit the Web

Disney is looking to increase merchandise sales by offering up online select items that were once available only at its theme parks or resorts.

The items will be sold at DisneyStore.com and the store section of its DisneyParks.com site. Merchandise from the Mouse House’s Disney Store and from its Disney Consumer Products arm will also be sold on the sites.

DisneyStore had previously operated as DisneyShopping.com.

Move by the Mouse is the latest effort to find new sources of revenue for the company and make shopping for Disney merchandise easier on consumers at a time when they’re spending less at the parks.

More than 100 items that had previously been exclusive to the parks, including customizable novelty ear hats, art, collectibles, toys and plush items, will be offered. Selection of products will expand throughout the year.
