Post-production and distribution conglom Ascent Media Group has hired two executives to build its fast-growing digital distribution biz.
Douglas Parrish joins the company as exec VP of operations and Drake Pruitt has been tapped senior VP of business development.
Ascent CEO Jose Royo told Daily Variety both hires have backgrounds in working on digital services and file-based distribution platforms, which he called “without a doubt the fastest growing part of our business.”
Though they are still a small part of Ascent’s overall business, “In portions of that supply chain, from ingest all the way through distribution, we’ve seen tremendous growth of over 100%,” Royo said.
(A file-based distribution platform enables the transfer of material to customers digitally rather than on physical media such as discs or tapes.)
Parrish will be based at the company’s Santa Monica HQ, where he’ll oversee media management. He will report directly to Royo.
Parrish comes from Utah-based Move Networks and was previously exec VP and chief technology officer at Walt Disney Internet Group in Burbank.
Pruitt founded consulting firm Disruptive Works Media and is former CEO of software company Bocada. He will report to Tom Kuehle, exec VP, strategic solutions.
