At the Bev Hilton: Honking Horns, Many Stars and Obama

Some 300 people showed up for a demonstration outside of the Beverly Hilton this evening, where a number of groups including the Courage Campaign, Stonewall Democratic Club and White Knot called for an end to the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and for same-sex marriage rights.

As passing cars honked their horns, Lt. Dan Choi addressed the gathering across the street from the hotel at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Trenton Drive, reports Variety’s Robert Hofler. About a dozen other demonstrators gathered nearby to call for the release of torture photos and protest involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As Seth Rogen, Jeffrey Katzenberg and other VIPs started filtering out of the dinner, demonstrators amped up their volume and began chanting “Equal Rights Now!,” Hofler reports.

Inside, Obama spoke before a gathering that also included Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, Tyler Perry, Nicky Hilton, Steven Spielberg, Jamie Foxx and Kiefer Sutherland.
