Fireworks Intl., the TV and digital programming distribution arm of Blighty’s ContentFilm, has taken worldwide distrib rights to Fox Intl. Channels’ short-form skeins.
The rights cover non-News Corp. owned media platforms.
FIC plans to release six original shorts, under the brand FoxBytes, on multi-media platforms this summer, including News Corp.’s Hulu, Myspace and Fox Mobile. Fireworks will expand FoxBytes’ distribution to other platforms in November.
The series will be advertiser supported and offered via streaming, VOD and subscription VOD. It will be localized in all markets.
FIC’s 3.5 hours of original content includes “Single Dads,” a comedy about two dads struggling to raise kids; “Security 7,” an animation series about a secret American military base hidden in the Middle East; and “Dito,” a stop-motion animation series.
FIC is also developing an two more hours of programming — a second season of “Single Dads,” as well as two new projects.
“Some 75% of the short-form projects we develop have long-form potential,” said Sharon Tal Yguado. “Once we launch the series and can track performance, we’ll decide on two-to-three projects that will go into TV development.”
