Montreal-based Alliance Films will handle Canadian distribution of CBS Films on all platforms through 2012 under a new pact announced on Tuesday.
Pics will include CBS Films’ first release, “Extraordinary Measures,” which stars Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford and Keri Russell, due to open Jan. 22; romantic comedy “The Back-Up Plan,” top-lining Jennifer Lopez and Alex O’Loughlin, due to open April 16; Montreal-shot teen romance “Beastly,” starring Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer, due to open July 30; and “Faster,” an action thriller starring Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton, set for release in the fall.
CBS Films plans to release four to six pics annually, all with budgets under $50 million.
“We are delighted to represent CBS Films in Canada,” said Alliance Films chairman Victor Loewy. “They are going to be an important force in the marketplace and a strong addition to our slate of films.”
