MONTREAL — “The Hangover” helmer Todd Phillips will receive the Comedy Director of the Year Award at Montreal’s 27th Just for Laughs Festival conference.

Etan Cohen, whose credits include “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” and “Tropic Thunder,” will get the Comedy Writer of the Year Award. The confab, which runs July 23-25, is held alongside the Just for Laughs comedy fest.

Comedy scribes Tami Sagher (“30 Rock”), Jeremy Garelick (“The Break Up”), Cohen and Dan Sterling (“Sarah Silverman Program”) will take part in the panel Comedy’s Next Generation of Writers: A Look Ahead.

Another panel called the Web: Comedy’s New Wild West will include Mike Farah (Funnyordie.com) and Avi Rothman (“The Inappropriate Yoga Guy”), and will be moderated by Heavy.com founder Simon Assaad.

Animation will be in the spotlight on the panel Breaking New Ground: Adult Animation Grows Up with Dino Stamatopoulos (“Moral Orel”), Tommy Blacha (“Metalocalypse”) and Vernon Chatman (“Wonder Showzen”).

Bigscreen laughs will be chatted up on Producing Great Comedy: The Secret Sauce with panelists including Phillips, Mandate Pictures president Nathan Kahane and producer Tom McNulty (“Night at the Museum”).

Fest runs July 3-26.
