Merkur Thorhauer in mood for Romance

Investment group takes 28.5% stake

BERLIN — German investment group Merkur Thorhauer has taken a 28.5% stake in Gottfried Zmeck’s digital pay TV channel Romance TV.

The feevee channel launched in February and is carried on paybox Premiere’s satellite platform Premiere Star as well as on Eutelsat’s cable service Kabelkiosk, telco HanseNet’s Alice platform and cabler Primacom.

Zmeck’s Munich-based Mainstream Media also operates niche pay TV outlets such as music channels GoldStar TV and Hit 24 as well as German movie channel Heimatkanal, all three of which are carried on Premiere.

Aimed at the female demo, Romance TV showcases popular movies, series, soaps, telenovelas and Hollywood as well as Bollywood features.
