Canwest Broadcasting, which operates Canuck networks Global and E! and several cable channels, has greenlit four one-hour drama pilots, Global senior VP Christine Shipton announced today.

“We are ramping up the activity in drama at Canwest and it’s great fun to collaborate with such spectacular home grown talent,” said Shipton in a statement.

The pilot slate includes: dark comedic rehab drama “Clean” (House of Films/Four Seasons), produced by Ilana Frank and Bill House and written by award-winning playwright Adam Pettle; gritty claims-adjuster adventures of “Lawyers, Guns & Money,” (Whizbang) produced by Paul Gross (director/star of TIFF ’08 opener “Passchendaele”), Frank Siracusa and Malcolm MacRury (also writer); supernatural superheroine saga “Lost Girl” (Prodigy Pictures), written by Michelle Lovretta (“Mutant X”); and “Shattered” (Force Four/Blueprint), about a reclusive forensic investigator with multiple-personality disorder, producer by Debra Beard, Hugh Beard, Noreen Halpern, John Morayniss and Laszlo Barna and written by Rick Drew (“Longsome Dove”).

Canwest will announce further casting, directing and development news in the coming weeks. The four pilots join Canwest’s portfolio of original shows “da Kink In My Hair,” “The Guard,” “Kenny vs. Spenny” and others.
