BUENOS AIRES — Argentine broadcaster Artear-Canal 13 has extended an output deal with Ideas del Sur through 2012, betting that its popular “ShowMatch” variety show, teen telenovelas and edgy dramas will keep up audience levels.

Ideas, which is run by Marcelo Tinelli, will continue to supply “ShowMatch” (which Tinelli hosts) and another three or four shows for primetime.

Entertainment programs “Este es el show” (This is the Show) and “El casting de la tele” (Television Casting) will continue in 2009.

In the pipeline is a miniseries in the vein of “Disputas,” “Okupas” and “Tumberos,” Ideas’ hard-hitting dramas about prostitutes, squatters and prisoners, respectively, that have become cult favorites.

Ideas also is developing “Atraccion x 4,” a romantic comedy about two musical families aimed at children and teens that will start airing in November.

Mexico’s Televisa is co-producing “Atraccion” and is handling international sales as part of a 2008-12 supply deal.

Grupo Clarin, Argentina’s biggest media conglom, owns Artear and 30% of Ideas.

Ideas first signed a content deal with the broadcaster in 2005 covering 2006 to the end of 2009. Before that it sold programs to different networks, with its strongest fare airing on Artear’s rival Telefe.
