SEOUL — Gary Wang, founder and CEO of Tudou, China’s leading video-sharing platform, will deliver a keynote at the upcoming Mipcom.

The TV programming mart runs Oct. 13-17 in Cannes.

Wang will speak Oct. 16 as part of a day of debate on convergence between TV, video-sharing online communities and vidgames. He will look at the development and growth of the market for entertainment via computer in China and the implications for the movie and audiovisual industries, and he will reveal his vision of the future.

The company, which claims to deliver more than 100 million videos daily to more than 10 million visitors, has often attracted controversy, as China has tightened regulation of the sector and sites have been accused of becoming agents for political unrest. Tudou, however, has also worked to smarten up the image of the sector and this year partnered with the Motion Picture Assn. and Microsoft to launch an intellectual property protection competition.

Mipcom and Variety are both units of media conglom Reed Elsevier.
