Film event celebrates local Francophiles

Los Angeles Francophiles convened April 14 at the Directors Guild for the opening night of the City of Lights, City of Angels French film week.

Some of France’s top directors including Claude Lelouch and Cedric Klapisch were there to launch the week of screenings and their latest films. But the star du jour in France, director/comedian Dany Boon, wasn’t able to make it for the North American premiere of his blockbuster hit “Welcome to the Land of the Shtis” which has become the highest-grossing French film ever in France.

Now in its 12th year, the 48-film series has become the second largest French film festival in the world, and this year introduced a Critics Award.
