BAM’s thing for spring

Susan Sarandon, Steve Buscemi among guests

NEW YORK — To celebrate the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s spring gala April 9, Paul Simon treated Gothamites to two hours of uninterrupted hits during a concert entitled Under African Skies highlighting the sounds of South Africa.

Brad Grey, Clive Davis, Susan Sarandon, Steve Buscemi and Cynthia Nixon were among the 1,600 guests who munched on appetizers and sipped cocktails prior to the show in a large white tent across the street from the main venue — BAM’s Howard Gilman Opera House.

After the musical performance, which ended with a rousing rendition of Simon’s “Graceland,” guests returned to the tent for a formal sit down dinner of chicken roulade stuffed with Zambian fruits.
