Adam Sandler rides ‘Zohan’ wave

Sony comedy premieres in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD — During a season when, in the words of Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal, “every weekend has a huge tidal wave of a gigantic movie,” the Adam Sandler vehicle “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” had its launch May 28 at the Chinese Theater.

Sony prexy Doug Belgrad says the studio has confidence in Sandler surfing his way among the waves because “he’s unerring in knowing what his audience wants.” Belgrad added, “He takes what is the complex and elusive process of filmmaker and makes it look easy.”

For his part, producer Jack Giarraputo said the pic “is such a crazy and original movie that I just have to thank Amy for backing us.”
