Billy Burke, stars as Detective Eric Box in “Untraceable”
Book I’m reading:
I don’t read. It makes me tired. I do other fake smart stuff like listen to NPR.
Total number of books I own:
Lots. But the only time they ever leave the shelf is when the power’s out.
Three books that mean a lot to me:
Let’s get off this one already. Ok, I’ll give you ONE. “The Prophet,” by Kahlil Gibran.
What book would you like to see brought to the bigscreen and what book do you hope never gets adapted?
Seriously, I’d like to see Marilyn Manson’s “Long Hard Road Out Of Hell” made into a film. Great, Americana story about a kid who comes from nothing, becomes a phenomenon and then gets crucified.
I hope they don’t make “The Bridges Of Madison County” into a movie.
Popular on Variety
Too late? My bad.
Last film I saw:
”No Country For Old Men,” directed by Joel and Ethan Coen
Three films that mean a lot to me:
”Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory,” directed by Mel Stuart (the original)
“Shampoo,” directed by Hal Ashby
“Sid And Nancy,” directed by Alex Cox
Who do you think is the best actor in Hollywood at the moment? (male or female)
There is no “best” –only exceptional, passable and ridiculous.
Who do you think was the brightest star of the silver screen?
I can’t think of anybody who in his prime, had more natural magic than Burt Reynolds. Yes, I’m serious. He is probably solely responsible for me becoming an actor.
If you could play any real-life person in a movie, who would it be and why?
I suck at impersonations. I can barely do myself.
Who do you look to for inspiration?
Song currently playing in my iPod:
“One Good Year,” Slaid Cleaves
Three songs that mean a lot to me:
“Tom Traubert’s Blues” – Tom Waits
“Leader Of The Band” – Dan Fogelberg
“No One’s Gonna Love You” – Band Of Horses.
Ever feel that certain song lyrics were written with you in mind? What are they?:
Sadly, I AM certain of this. I’m a songwriter. I was supposed to be a rock star not an actor.
Concert that changed your life:
David Bowie “Serious Moonlight” tour
* TV: “Rock of Love” with Bret Michaels By far, the best show on television.
* Film: Is “9 ½ Weeks” a guilty pleasure, or just the greatest movie ever about not having to commit to a really hot chick?
* Reading material: Like I said, reading’s overrated.
* Web sites: C’mon… really?
* YouTube video: What’s YouTube again?
Who is your inner Muppet?
For sure, Dr. Teeth (and the Electric Mayhem)
Best hangover remedy?
What’s the biggest upside of the Internet and what is its biggest downside?
Poker. And… well, poker.
What advice would you give to someone trying to break into your profession?
Relieve yourself often and always with other things. Even if you’re wildly successful, realistically, you’re only gonna spend 1% of your time doing what you’re actually good at. And even THAT you’ll wanna get away from.
Do you have a dream project?:
Yes I do. Would you like to invest?
What helps you get out of bed in the morning?:
I get out of bed in the afternoon.
Who was your celebrity crush growing up?
Jessica Lange in “King Kong”… and (she doesn’t know this) Diane Lane in “Streets Of Fire”.
Are there any activities you do to make you feel un-famous?
HAAAAAA!!! Please. Do YOU GUYS even know who I am??
What’s more dangerous: a mountain lion or a bitter ex?
I’ve never had sex with a mountain lion so I wouldn’t know.
Would you rather see a Lakers game next to Jack Nicholson or a Knicks game next to Spike Lee?
I’m from Seattle. If I could go back to 1979 when the Sonics won the championship, I’d take Jack. Seems like he and I like to have the same kind of fun.
What is the single worst purchase you’ve made in the past year?
A birthday present for my girlfriend. I won’t say what it was but she’s allergic to it.
What is the real reason behind answering these questions?
Self indulgence, pure and simple. Everyone should pretend they have a relevant voice once in awhile. I don’t expect anyone to give a shit what I think and frankly, for their sakes I hope they don’t.
Five people who I’d like to see answer this survey:
My dad, Oscar Wilde, Kris Kristofferson, Kahlil Gibran and my future child.
