Her character on “Seinfeld,” the cashier at the Monk’s Café, was known by her real name, Ruthie Cohen, and appeared in nearly every episode of the long-running series.

Born in the Bronx, Cohen began acting in the 1980s after raising two children, starting as an extra for shows including “Murder She Wrote” and “Golden Girls.”

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills.

She is survived by a son, a daughter and two grandchildren.
