LONDON — U.K.-based sales company Hanway Films has tapped Sofia Neves as director of worldwide sales and distribution.
Neves will exit Capitol Films, where she is sales director, to start her new job this week. She will report to Thorsten Schumacher, Hanway’s director of worldwide sales and distribution and general manager.
Neves replaces Charlotte Van Weede, who is joining Protagonist Pictures on May 1. Protagonist is the new sales company launched by Film4, producer-distrib Vertigo Films and financier Ingenious Media.
Prior to Capitol, Neves worked at Renaissance Films and for producer Paulo Branco (“America”).
“Sofia is multilingual and will initially prioritize her efforts in Italy, Spain and Latin America,” said Hanway chief exec Tim Haslam.
Neves’ departure is the second blow this week for Capitol, which lost its head of development and acquisitions, Ed Clarke, to Kudos Pictures.
Hanway’s Cannes sales lineup includes Denis Tanovic’s “Triage,” starring Colin Farrell; “Wuthering Heights,” starring Natalie Portman; and Michael Winterbottom’s “Genova.”
