Hensleigh joins ION Media

Exec named chief marketing officer

Eleo Hensleigh, former head of marketing for TV and cable for Disney-ABC, has joined ION Media Networks as chief marketing officer.

Citing Hensleigh’s “deep experience with television brands in all stages of development,” Brandon Burgess, chairman and CEO of ION, said she’ll take charge of marketing ION’s “multimedia brand portfolio.”

Hensleigh will also oversee the expansion of ION’s research operation, which will beef up sales- and media planning for the company’s TV-station group and broadcast network, as well as its digital network for children called qubo and health/wellness network called ION Life.

During more than a decade at Disney-ABC, Hensleigh, who joined Disney Channel in 1996 as senior VP of marketing, rose to chief marketing officer & executive VP of marketing and brand strategy for the group, which includes ABC TV, Disney Channel Worldwide, Toon Disney, ABC Family and Soap Net.

Before Disney-ABC, she was senior VP of marketing and promotions for FX Networks. Earlier in her career, she was VP and creative director of on-air promotion for Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite.
